Kathmandu Art Gallery
– Space & Residency
Kathmandu Art Gallery was originally established at Le Sherpa, before becoming an extension of Siddhartha Art Gallery within the same complex at Baber Mahal Revisited, in the first courtyard extending its long-standing commitment to contemporary art inNepal into a second home. Together, the two galleries form a shared platform for exhibiting, supporting, and developing contemporary artistic practice while each maintains its own distinct programming and identity
Baber Mahal Revisited itself is a restored complex of Rana-era palace buildings, reimagined as a heritage courtyard precinct in the heart of Kathmandu. Its brick facades, carved wooden windows, and quiet interconnected courtyards now house galleries, boutiques, and cafés a setting that blends the city’s architectural history with its contemporary cultural life. It is within this setting that Kathmandu Art Gallery operates.
Kathmandu Art Gallery is organized into two parts: a gallery space for exhibitions, workshops, and private events, and a residency program offering accommodation for artists and travellers. Together, they reflect the gallery’s dual role as both a public platform for contemporary art, and a space that welcomes people into that world directly.
Part One: The Gallery Space
*
The gallery space at Kathmandu Art Gallery is a working venue for contemporary art in Kathmandu hosting exhibitions, workshops, and private events within a historic courtyard setting.

Exhibitions
The gallery hosts curated solo and group exhibitions, with each show typically running for a minimum of one month, giving artists’ work the time and attention it deserves. The space is open to Nepali and international artists working across all visual art disciplines.
Workshops
Beyond exhibitions, the gallery regularly hosts workshops and training sessions for artists, students, and the wider public supporting skill-building, critical discourse, and hands-on engagement with contemporary art practice.
Private Venue Hire
The gallery space is also available for private hire for events, launches, talks, screenings, or gatherings that call for a distinctive cultural setting within Baber Mahal Revisited.

Part Two: The Residency
*
Separate from the gallery space, Kathmandu Art Gallery offers a residency program with two private rooms available both for artists in residence and for independent travellers, listed on Airbnb and other booking platforms. While the gallery space is built around exhibitions and events, the residency exists to house the people: artists staying for a working period in Nepal, and travellers passing through Kathmandu who want a quieter, more personal place to stay.
